Design Verification Engineer (New College Graduate, 2027)
Role Summary
Entry-level hardware design verification role focused on validating RISC‑V processors and cores. The engineer will develop verification environments, write tests and assertions, run regressions, debug failures, and work with design and architecture teams to achieve verification closure.
Position is based in Richardson, TX and provides accelerated training, mentorship, and cross-functional exposure within a semiconductor manufacturing organization.
Experience Level
Entry-level - new college graduate (2027). Suitable for candidates with limited professional experience; internship or co-op experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include translating specifications into verification plans, implementing verification infrastructure, executing tests, and closing coverage gaps.
- Review design, microarchitecture, and RISC‑V architecture specifications and translate requirements into verification plans and test scenarios.
- Develop and maintain testbenches, test cases, checkers, assertions, and verification models for processor and core functionality.
- Execute directed and regression testing; analyze simulation results and debug test failures.
- Collaborate with design and architecture teams to diagnose and resolve functional issues.
- Develop and monitor functional and code coverage; close verification gaps and contribute to verification automation and methodology improvements.
- Perform work in a safe and compliant manner supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications followed by preferred skills.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in hardware design, verification, or related areas.
- Knowledge of computer architecture, RISC‑V processors, VLSI design, Verilog/SystemVerilog, and typical IP/SoC verification flows.
- Experience with UNIX environments, assembly programming, UVM, scripting, simulation tools, formal verification, or hardware emulation.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management skills, strong written/verbal communication, and organization.
- Interest in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity and workflows.
Education Requirements
Graduating with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field from an accredited program. Must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0. Role targets new college graduates (2027).
