Job Title

Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) verification enablement team to verify new ARM architectural features and RTL prototypes using in-house random instruction simulators, simulation/FPGA/emulation platforms, and verification environments. The role involves collaborating with tools, design verification, and RTL prototyping teams across geographies to ensure architecture features meet specifications.

This role focuses on practical verification of microarchitecture and architecture features across multiple functional units; adaptability and a strong learning mindset are required.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3 to 6 years of relevant IP/SoC product development or verification experience.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities are verification-focused engineering tasks to validate architectural features and RTL prototypes.

  • Collaborate with tools, verification, and RTL prototyping teams across locations.
  • Use and extend in-house random instruction sequencing (RIS) tools to create stimulus that uncovers corner-case bugs.
  • Develop and enhance verification environments, including stimulus generators and checkers.
  • Verify that new ARM architecture features function as specified and do not regress existing functionality.
  • Execute verification strategies alongside other verification engineers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of verification methodologies based on findings.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 3–6 years of experience in an IP/SoC product development or verification environment.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of computer architecture concepts (out-of-order CPU execution, caches, memory systems).
  • Must-have: Experience with testbench development and verifying RTL using standard verification methodologies or willingness to learn RIS methodologies.
  • Must-have: Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work with geographically distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, C/C++, assembly (ARM/x86), and UVM.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with industry simulation tools (VCS, Questa) and scripting languages (Perl, Python).
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience verifying CPUs/GPUs/interconnects, developing test plans, using ARM test generators/toolkits (e.g., Raven/ACK), or debugging workloads on FPGA/silicon.

Education Requirements

Good university degree in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. Other science degrees will be considered with relevant experience.
