Design Verification Engineer
Texas InstrumentsJob Title
Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Drive and execute design verification for SoC and IP used in embedded processors, focusing on data-movement, multimedia, vision, interconnect, safety, and security-related IP. Work within the Embedded Processors team to develop verification plans, testbenches, and milestone schedules across block and system levels.
Collaborate with SoC design, validation, software, test, and applications teams to ensure functional correctness from IP concept through silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
Experience Level
Senior - requires significant experience; the role specifies 10+ years of experience in design verification or design development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, and driving verification activities for IP and SoC designs.
- Architect and develop module- and system-level test strategies, verification plans, testbenches, and milestone schedules.
- Advance and promote verification methodologies using C/UVM testbenches from block to full-SoC level.
- Create, run, enhance, and debug simulation tests using coverage-driven, constrained-random stimulus.
- Define and implement functional coverage and drive coverage closure.
- Perform deep debugging to identify root causes for functional failures.
- Verify designs in emulation and participate in post-silicon verification, characterization, and debug.
- Collaborate with IP and verification teams to promote component reuse and consistent flows.
- Interface with third-party vendors to track delivery milestones and quality.
- Support silicon bring-up, test program development, customer engagement, and silicon/application debug.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical experience, and behavioral attributes for successful performance.
- 10+ years of professional experience in design verification or digital design development.
- Expertise in data movement and SoC integration concepts, including bus protocols such as AXI, CHI, AHB, APB and similar.
- Strong experience with Verilog and simulation flows; familiarity with simulation tools and code-coverage/debug tools.
- Proven ability with coverage-driven, constrained-random verification and UVM-based methodologies.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills; ability to work across teams to resolve complex issues.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Ability to derive DV plans, manage schedules, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SystemVerilog and VHDL.
- Familiarity with DMA, cache, ARM CPU cores, DDR, and bus-coherence concepts.
- Scripting skills (Tcl, Perl, Python) and experience with emulation and silicon debug tools (ATE, bench characterization).
- Knowledge of security, safety, interrupt handling, and post-silicon characterization techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (degree level specified as Bachelor's in the posting).
