Job Title

Design Methodology Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Join the ASIC Design Automation team to develop and maintain scripts, tools, and workflows that improve front-end RTL design and verification efficiency and quality. You will collaborate with RTL designers and verifiers, work in a shared GitHub environment, and gain exposure to industry-standard EDA tools and DevOps practices.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for active students; no prior professional experience required.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist with development, maintenance, and debugging of automation and tooling that support RTL design and verification.

  • Develop, maintain, and test automation scripts and small tools for design and verification flows.
  • Debug automation issues and support resolution of EDA flow problems.
  • Integrate and maintain repository and CI/DevOps workflows in a collaborative GitHub environment.
  • Collaborate with front-end designers and verifiers to understand needs and deliver usable tooling.
  • Document tools, procedures, and usage; participate in project-based teamwork and reviews.

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fundamental digital logic design knowledge (coursework or hands-on experience).
  • Ability to program in at least one scripting language (Perl, TCL, Ruby, Python).
  • Experience working on project-based teams.
  • Must be authorized to work and live in Canada; this position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Linux shells (bash, tcsh) and Linux-based development.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages (VHDL, SystemVerilog) and EDA tool flows.
  • Exposure to version control (Git) and DevOps/CI practices.

Education Requirements

Active student pursuing a Bachelor's degree (BASc, BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant coursework or experience in digital logic design and scripting is expected.
