Design Implementation Engineer, Sr Lead
QualcommJob Title
Design Implementation Engineer, Sr Lead
Role Summary
Technical leader responsible for synthesis strategy, quality-of-results (QoR) convergence, and execution for large GPU/SoC hierarchies. Works across synthesis, timing closure, flows and automation to deliver tapeout-quality RTL implementation.
Leads cross-functional technical decisions, mentors senior engineers, and owns program-level synthesis outcomes.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires extensive hands-on experience (approximately 6+ years) in logic synthesis and RTL implementation for large SoC/GPU designs; program-level ownership and tapeout experience expected.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities focus on achieving synthesis closure and driving methodology improvements:
- Own synthesis closure and QoR strategy for major hierarchies and complex blocks.
- Define and execute QoR convergence plans; resolve high-complexity implementation issues.
- Act as synthesis focal point across design, verification, timing, and EDA teams.
- Lead flow development and automation to improve productivity and repeatability.
- Drive cross-functional technical decisions at program level and take tapeout ownership.
- Mentor and guide senior engineers on methodology, best practices, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (education details are in the Education Requirements section):
- Deep, hands-on synthesis experience for large SoC/GPU hierarchies and complex RTL.
- Proven tapeout ownership and ability to drive closure under project constraints.
- Strong methodology leadership and ability to define synthesis/QoR strategy.
- Experience with EDA synthesis tools, flows, and automation (scripting/flow integration).
- Excellent problem-solving skills for multi-dimensional implementation challenges and cross-team coordination.
Nice-to-have:
- Background in timing closure, clock domain crossing, power/performance optimization.
- Experience with FPGA prototyping, formal or physical implementation flows.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree (examples given: Bachelors +3 years, Masters +2 years, PhD +1 year in hardware engineering), and specifically references BS/MS in Electrical Engineering for the role.
