Job Title
Design Engineer - PNR
Role Summary
Join Arm's Solutions Engineering group to deliver ASIC implementation and physical design solutions for CPU cores, system interconnect and related IP. The role focuses on improving power, performance, area, and system integration through implementation flows and methodologies used by Arm and partners.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in ASIC implementation and physical design.
Responsibilities
Deliver implementation and signoff for Arm designs and improve implementation methodologies and flows.
- Perform synthesis, physical implementation, timing closure and physical signoff of CPU cores, interconnect, and other designs.
- Analyze timing, area and power to improve design quality.
- Optimize design flows and methodologies to improve PPAT (power, performance, area, thermal).
- Develop and deploy new implementation methodologies to increase efficiency and results.
- Support detailed implementation analysis and data-mining for design optimization.
- Collaborate with implementation and physical IP RTL design teams to drive analysis and optimization.
- Translate R&D concepts into practical implementation solutions and enable partners to achieve target quality of results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of expectations.
- 3–5 years of experience in ASIC implementation and physical design (implementation, STA and timing closure).
- Experience with structured clock tree synthesis, PDN analysis, DFM and physical verification.
- Proven ability to analyze and optimize timing, area and power trade-offs.
- Experience developing or adopting new silicon implementation techniques and promoting their use across teams.
- Ability to develop implementation analysis methods and use data-driven approaches.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work with international teams and partners.
- Familiarity with implementation tool flows and working with EDA toolchains is desirable.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or another relevant technical field; equivalent practical experience accepted.
