Job Title
Design Engineer II
Role Summary
Work on physical design implementation and automation to deliver best-in-class PPA for IP cores and controllers in advanced process nodes. The role sits on a physical implementation team focused on flow development, regression, and performance/power optimization.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting indicates 2+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining flows and automation for physical implementation and managing quality and performance tracking.
- Develop, automate, and maintain EDA flows and scripts for physical implementation.
- Create and tune technology flow manuals (TFM) to optimize performance, power, and area (PPA) for IPs and controllers.
- Perform PPA characterization and optimization for performance- and power-oriented IP cores across advanced nodes and multiple foundries (TSMC, Intel, Samsung, Rapidus).
- Manage regression infrastructure to track RTL/flow quality and PPA across designs.
- Implement digital design flows using Cadence and related backend tools for synthesis, placement, routing, timing, and power analysis.
- Develop automation and productivity improvements, including using AI-assisted scripting, to reduce design turnaround time.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Physical design experience in an ASIC design environment.
- Solid knowledge of the complete ASIC design flow: synthesis, physical design, timing analysis, power analysis, and formal verification.
- Experience in logic synthesis and PPA optimization techniques; familiarity with logic equivalence check (LEC) debug for production designs.
- Hands-on experience developing and debugging synthesis flows with EDA tools (e.g., Genus, Fusion Compiler) and familiarity with backend tools.
- Strong scripting skills, especially Python and Tcl, for flow automation.
- Good communication, analytical, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and in teams.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience (as noted in the posting).
Education Requirements
MS / MTech / BE / BTech in Electronics is specified. The posting requests candidates with 2+ years of experience. No alternative "equivalent experience" language was stated.
