Design Engineer - Custom Layout (Analog/Mixed-Signal)
Role Summary
Perform custom analog/mixed-signal IC layout and floorplanning for advanced technology nodes, focusing on signal integrity, matching, and power distribution. Work on high‑speed PHY blocks (e.g., SerDes, USB, DDR) and collaborate closely with analog circuit designers to achieve performance and manufacturability targets.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early Career - approximately 2+ years of applicable experience in analog/custom layout is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include:
- Perform custom layout floorplanning, matching guides, placement of resistors/capacitors, and routing of sensitive and mixed‑signal nets to minimize coupling and noise.
- Define top‑level hierarchical floorplans for blocks and power distribution.
- Implement layouts for high‑speed mixed‑signal PHYs such as SerDes, USB, and DDR.
- Collaborate with analog circuit designers to ensure layout meets electrical and manufacturability requirements.
- Support verification and sign‑off activities related to layout quality and performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Proficiency with layout edit and verification tools: Cadence Virtuoso XL, Pegasus/Calibre DRC & LVS.
- Experience with EMIR tools such as Voltus‑FI.
- Hands‑on experience performing DRC/LVS/ERC and EMIR analysis and recommending remediation.
- Fundamental understanding of IC design technology, process, and layout methodology.
- Strong teamwork, self‑motivation, and effective English communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: PERC run, FinFET layout, ESD/Latch‑up experience, and experience cooperating with digital P&R teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required, with 2+ years of applicable experience in analog/custom layout of advanced technology nodes. The posting does not specify alternative degrees or explicit equivalent‑experience language.
