Job Title

Design Director

Role Summary

Lead the Dallas Design Center's analog/mixed-signal IC design organization for Power Path products (eFuse, Load Switch, Ideal Diode). Responsible for technical delivery from concept through Release-for-Supply, managing design, verification, and layout teams and coordinating with product, test, and manufacturing partners.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 10+ years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal power IC design experience and prior design management leading teams of 10+ engineers.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical leadership and operational delivery across concurrent NPI projects.

  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams (analog/mixed-signal, digital, verification, layout) through NPI to volume release.
  • Own technical oversight: architecture, transistor-level design, simulation, verification, layout, tape-out, silicon bring-up and characterization.
  • Ensure first-pass silicon success via rigorous design reviews and design-for-quality practices (ESD, latch-up, EM/IR, DFT, DFM).
  • Contribute to product definition; translate system requirements into executable design specifications and trade-offs.
  • Drive shared IP/core reuse strategy across Power Path portfolio to accelerate time-to-market.
  • Plan and allocate design resources, capacity planning, and EDA/CAD tooling needs for the Dallas Design Center.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent; manage performance and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with global design sites and cross-functional partners to align schedules and deliverables.
  • Provide sustaining support: failure analysis, yield improvement, and resolution of design-related quality issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications.

  • 10+ years hands-on analog/mixed-signal power IC design experience, including transistor-level circuit design, layout oversight, and silicon validation in BCD/BiCMOS/CMOS process technologies (12V–150V class).
  • Proven design management experience leading teams of 10+ engineers across design, verification, and layout with a record of released products in volume production.
  • Direct experience in power-path protection and distribution products (eFuses, load switches, ideal diode controllers, hot-swap controllers) or closely related power management ICs.
  • Deep knowledge of power management building blocks: integrated power FETs, charge pumps, current-sense/current-limit architectures, protection circuits (OVP/UVLO/OCP/TSD), precision references, comparators, and low-IQ techniques.
  • Mastery of analog design flows and verification methodologies (Cadence environment, SPICE-class simulation, LVS/DRC) and reliability sign-off processes.
  • Track record of first-pass silicon success and ownership of datasheet-quality documentation; patents and publications are a plus.
  • Strong people leadership, concise executive communication, analytical problem solving, customer engagement skills, and experience leading global multi-site teams.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Education Requirements

Minimum Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE or PhD preferred, with focus on analog and/or power IC circuit design.
