DDR Functional Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Join an SoC validation team responsible for functional validation of LPDDR/DDR interfaces and related subsystems across pre-silicon emulation and post-silicon hardware. The role focuses on test-plan creation, test execution, data collection, debugging, and cross-team issue resolution.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting expects experienced engineering contributors (Principal / Sr Principal expectations advertised: approximately 10–15+ years of validation or related SoC experience).
Responsibilities
Work on LPDDR/DDR validation at controller and subsystem levels, across emulation and hardware platforms. Typical responsibilities include:
- Develop test plans from design specifications and validation goals.
- Create and execute directed and stress tests for LPDDR/DDR interfaces.
- Operate lab setups, collect and analyze test data, and document results.
- Debug failures and work with design, software, and systems teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain validation plans, reports, and technical records for project visibility.
- Contribute to improving test coverage, quality, and disciplined test execution.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers as needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience with LPDDR4/5 and DDR5 validation and protocols.
- Strong C programming skills for test development and automation.
- Practical lab skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and related software tools.
- Solid understanding of SoC architecture, interfaces, and hardware/software interactions.
- Proven debugging, test development, and technical documentation abilities.
- Effective cross-functional communication and ability to collaborate with designers, verification, software, and product teams.
- Ability to provide technical leadership within a validation team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with pre-silicon emulation models and post-silicon board bring-up.
- Familiarity validating interfaces under PVT (process/voltage/temperature) or stress conditions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. The posting specifies these degrees; equivalent technical experience is commonly considered in senior technical roles.
