Data Center Silicon Hardware Engineering Intern - BS - 2027 Co-Op
Role Summary
Work on design, implementation, and verification of digital hardware blocks and subsystems for custom data-center silicon used in AI, networking, and infrastructure. Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, and physical design engineers on real product projects.
This is an undergraduate co-op/intern role focused on hands-on engineering tasks, tool usage, and mentorship from senior engineers.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for undergraduate students (co-op). No specific years of professional experience required; intended for students pursuing a BS degree.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Implement and verify digital hardware blocks using RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Develop verification environments, UVM testbenches, test cases, and automation scripts.
- Debug RTL, simulation, and timing issues; analyze results and propose fixes.
- Support synthesis, coverage analysis, and design debug activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, physical design, verification) to deliver design changes.
- Create and maintain tools and scripts to improve engineering productivity.
- Learn and apply industry-standard methodologies under senior mentor guidance.
Requirements
Required skills and experience (must-haves unless noted):
- Coursework or project experience in digital circuits, Boolean logic, computer architecture, and basic circuit analysis.
- Programming experience in C, C++, or Python.
- Practical experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Familiarity with verification practices (UVM), formal verification, synthesis, and coverage analysis.
- Ability to debug RTL, simulations, and timing issues; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and in teams.
- Previous internship, research, or project experience in hardware design or verification is an asset.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; enrolled full-time (undergraduate co-op/BS level, class of 2027).
