Job Title

Customer Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work within Customer Engineering (part of Manufacturing Development and Customer Engineering) to support Intel's transition to a foundry model. The role delivers silicon manufacturing solutions, improves yield and device performance, and supports customers through technology development, product introduction, and manufacturing ramps.

The engineer will collaborate with technology-development, manufacturing, test, product, and customer teams to meet PDK specifications, resolve device and yield issues, and drive manufacturing success.

Experience Level

Mid-level: typically 4+ years of semiconductor-industry experience (per the position's minimum qualifications).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical leadership, analysis, and customer-facing support across device, integration, and yield domains.

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver silicon manufacturing solutions that meet Intel PDK and customer requirements.
  • Partner with technology-development teams to align device and yield performance with development milestones.
  • Perform baseline and ongoing data analysis across test sockets, devices, products, and fab processes to find yield and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Identify test-condition, device, integration, and fab-process changes to improve Unit-to-Wafer yield and manufacturing performance.
  • Develop data-driven models, physical interpretations, and yield predictions to support roadmaps and customer objectives.
  • Support yield-improvement projects, device issues, excursions, investigations, and containment activities with customers and internal teams.
  • Define clear problem statements via data mining, identify patterns, and communicate findings to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Guide subject-matter experts to resolve complex device and yield problems while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Manage change processes and provide timely technical reports and customer updates.
  • Capture key learnings, standardize effective methods, and share best practices across teams, products, and customers.

Requirements

Minimum and desired skills, with must-haves first and preferred/nice-to-have items after.

  • Must-have: 4+ years of semiconductor-industry experience.
  • Must-have: 3+ years of experience in at least one of the following areas: hands-on analytical work (data querying, cleaning, statistical analysis, visualization, modeling), wafer-fab or manufacturing using device and yield-analysis methods and tools, or understanding of process impacts on devices and interactions among device, process, integration, test, product, and yield performance.
  • Strong hands-on analytical skills: data preparation, sanity checks, statistical analysis, visualization, modeling, and drawing conclusions.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and task forces to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex technical information to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively across multifunctional and multicultural teams; organized and able to systematize learnings.
  • Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with 300 mm startup and ramp of advanced logic processes, yield analysis (LYA), device engineering, integration, process engineering, process control, or materials analysis.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor analysis tools such as JMP, JVS, Genome, TRACE, AQUA, CB, and WIJT is a plus.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a science or engineering discipline (e.g., engineering, physical sciences) is required in the posting, combined with the experience noted above. Preferred: Ph.D. with relevant experience (posting cites Ph.D. plus 3+ years for certain advanced roles such as 300 mm startup/ramp). The posting also references relevant coursework, projects, research, internships, or prior job experience as contributing to qualifications.
