Job Title
Custom Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and develop FPGA circuits and IP, including core fabric logic, interconnect routing, clocking, configurable memory blocks, and on-chip networks. Deliver circuit implementations, models, and collateral for integration into FPGA hardware and system-level products.
Experience Level
Senior β requires more than 10 years of FPGA circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
The role covers micro-architecture, circuit and logic design, verification, and cross-team integration to meet power, performance, area, timing, and yield targets.
- Design FPGA circuits and IP: core fabric logic, interconnects, clocking, configuration logic, configurable memory blocks, and network-on-chip.
- Micro-architect and implement circuit and logic designs; perform schematic entry, SPICE/RV simulations, and reliability verification.
- Optimize designs for power, performance, area, timing, and yield.
- Develop integration collateral and models: circuit integration specifications, behavioral, timing and power models, electrical rule checkers, and design intent documents.
- Collaborate with microarchitecture, SoC/full-chip, IP fabric, RTL design, and verification teams to enable new FPGA capabilities and faster system integration.
- Lead sign-off reviews and provide oversight of physical design activities.
- Document design decisions and communicate technical results clearly to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Extensive FPGA circuit design experience (10+ years) including logic and memory design.
- Hands-on experience with SPICE and RV simulations and sign-off review processes.
- Strong understanding of hardware VLSI design and advanced process technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming: Python, Perl, CSH, and TCL.
- Experience with schematic entry, reliability verification, and creating timing and power models.
- Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with AI-related tools or workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field (specified in the posting).
