CPU SRAM Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU SRAM Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate custom SRAM and memory-related digital circuits for high-performance CPU products. The role owns memory schematic capture, simulation, timing characterization, and generation of deliverable models, and works with CAD and Physical Design teams to meet performance, power, and area targets.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates typically have multiple years of industry experience in custom memory or analog/mixed-signal circuit design (commonly 4–8+ years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop custom digital circuits for high-speed, low-power SRAM designs.
- Schematic capture and design entry for memory circuits.
- Layout planning and supervision; provide layout guidance to layout engineers.
- Functional verification and variation-aware simulation (including Monte Carlo).
- Timing characterization and static timing analysis for memories.
- Perform analysis steps required to generate deliverable models and sign-off collateral.
- Collaborate with CAD and Physical Design teams to resolve memory PPA (performance, power, area) challenges.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience designing SRAM circuits and register file elements.
- Familiarity with industry-standard custom design tools and design flows.
- Experience with circuit simulation and Monte Carlo/process variation analysis.
- Hands-on experience with static timing analysis and timing characterization.
- Practical experience with schematic capture, layout planning coordination, and functional verification for memories.
- Ability to produce deliverable models and interact effectively with CAD and Physical Design teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Advanced knowledge of SRAM and register file circuit techniques for high-performance and low-power designs.
- Semiconductor device fundamentals and variation-aware simulation experience in FinFET/Nanosheet nodes.
- Experience with custom memory layout and full memory analysis (power, electrical characterization).
- Familiarity with tools such as NanoTime, Ansys EMIR, ESP-CV, and Liberate for timing/power/EM analysis.
Education Requirements
Qualifications stated by the employer: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with typically 6+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in those fields with typically 5+ years; OR PhD in those fields with typically 4+ years. Preferred postings reference an MS with 7+ years as desirable. The employer also accepts equivalent practical experience in related hardware, systems, or software engineering roles.
