CPU SRAM Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU SRAM Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and analyze custom SRAM and register-file digital circuits for high-performance, low-power CPU products. Full ownership from schematic capture through simulation, timing, layout guidance, and model generation, collaborating with CAD and Physical Design teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level β candidates typically have about 2β7 years of relevant hardware memory or circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and delivery of custom memory circuits and related deliverables.
- Develop custom high-speed and low-power SRAM and register-file circuits.
- Schematic capture and circuit entry.
- Plan and supervise layout; provide layout guidance.
- Functional verification and memory logical model (Verilog) support.
- Simulation, Monte Carlo and margin verification; electrical and timing characterization.
- Perform timing and power analysis and generate collateral models.
- Collaborate with CAD and Physical Design teams to resolve PPA and model issues.
- Contribute to DFT/BIST and memory-analysis flow development as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications focus on hands-on memory circuit design and analysis. Degree and formal education items are summarized under Education Requirements below.
Must-have
- Practical experience designing SRAM circuits and register files.
- Hands-on use of custom analog/digital design tools and flows.
- Experience with circuit simulation, Monte Carlo analysis, and static timing analysis.
- Experience with functional verification of memory designs.
- Ability to produce deliverable models and documentation for memory IP.
- Proven collaboration with CAD and Physical Design teams on PPA issues.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with variation-aware simulation in FinFET or Nanosheet nodes.
- Experience with custom memory layout design and layout guidance.
- Experience with NanoTime, Ansys EMIR, ESP-CV, Liberate or similar tools.
- Experience with BIST, DFT, and memory analysis flow development.
Education Requirements
The posting references: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (variously cited with 2+ to 5+ years of practical experience). A Master's degree in a related field is listed as preferred (with reduced experience expectations) and a PhD is also listed as acceptable. The posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees.
