Job Title

CPU SRAM Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and analyze custom SRAM and register-file digital circuits for high-performance CPU products. This role owns SRAM designs from schematic capture through characterization and model generation and works with CAD and Physical Design teams to meet performance, power and area targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically a mid-career engineering role requiring practical experience in memory or ASIC circuit design (commonly a few years of industry experience in relevant roles).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end memory design and analysis.

  • Develop custom digital circuits for high-speed and low-power SRAM designs.
  • Schematic capture and layout planning/supervision.
  • Functional verification and memory logical modeling (Verilog) where applicable.
  • Simulation, variation/margin verification, and Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Timing characterization and static timing analysis for memories.
  • Perform analysis steps to generate deliverable collateral models (timing, power, electrical models).
  • Collaborate with CAD and Physical Design teams to address memory PPA challenges.
  • Contribute to modeling, DFT/BIST features, and analysis flow development as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and domain experience; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Practical experience designing SRAM circuits and register files.
  • Experience with industry-standard custom design tools and design flows.
  • Circuit simulation and margining experience, including Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Experience with static timing analysis and timing characterization.
  • Schematic capture and familiarity with layout planning and guidance.
  • Functional verification experience and familiarity with memory verification techniques.
  • Experience interacting with CAD and Physical Design teams to deliver models and resolve PPA issues.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with variation-aware simulation in advanced FinFET/Nanosheet nodes, custom memory layout, memory analysis flow development, BIST/DFT, and experience with tools such as NanoTime, Ansys EMIR, ESP-CV, and Liberate.

Education Requirements

Degrees listed in the source: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. The posting includes degree-plus-experience alternatives (examples shown in source: typical minimums include Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year; another listing referenced BS/BA +5+ years). Equivalent related work experience is accepted in place of degree in some qualification paths.
