Job Title

CPU Server Physical Design Methodology, Infrastructure and Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Implement and maintain physical-design infrastructure, methodology and automation for server CPU projects. Work with implementation, CAD, methodology and timing teams to deliver scalable tooling, dashboards, and prediction models that improve timing, power and area workflows.

Experience Level

Entry-level / early career - typically 1–3 years of relevant industry experience. Minimum qualifications indicate Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Deliver engineering infrastructure, automation and analytics to support multiple CPU designs and implementation teams.

  • Collaborate with PD, CAD, Methodology and STA teams to deploy and maintain design infrastructure and dashboards.
  • Work with block-level implementation teams to analyze, implement and improve optimization methods for designs.
  • Develop automation and predictive models for timing, power and area estimation.
  • Create data pipelines and visualizations to identify and root-cause design bottlenecks.
  • Integrate tools and scripts into existing flows to improve productivity and scalability.

Requirements

Core technical skills required. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Experience with synthesis, place & route, and signoff timing/power analysis (STA/design signoff).
  • Must-have: Proficiency in scripting and automation (TCL, Python, Perl).
  • Must-have: Strong software/programming skills to manipulate complex metrics and integrate tools into flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with data analytics, visualization, or AI-assisted utilities to surface design bottlenecks.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and flows for synthesis, P&R, STA and signoff.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years relevant engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields. Preferred mentions include an MS in Electrical Engineering with ~10 years practical experience. "Related field" is accepted in the listed options.
