Intel CorporationJob Title
CPU RTL Design Engineer
Role Summary
As a CPU RTL Design Engineer on Intel's CPU design team, you will design and implement RTL for CPU features, validate functionality through simulation and debug, and collaborate with architecture, verification, physical design, and SoC integration teams to deliver production-quality CPU logic.
Primary focus areas include microarchitecture implementation, RTL development in SystemVerilog/Verilog, and power/performance/area/timing optimization for physical implementation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical background: 3+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; alternate combinations of education and experience are described under Education Requirements.
Responsibilities
Deliver RTL and related artifacts for CPU features and ensure correct integration and performance.
- Implement and optimize RTL to meet microarchitecture, PPA (power, performance, area), and timing targets.
- Develop and review microarchitectural specifications (MAS) and design documentation.
- Perform RTL simulation, functional validation, and debug failing tests.
- Collaborate with architecture, verification, physical design, and SoC integration teams.
- Analyze test results and resolve design and RTL issues to ensure feature correctness.
- Support SoC customers during integration of CPU IP into larger systems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience with digital logic design and RTL development.
- Proficiency in SystemVerilog and/or Verilog.
- Experience with RTL simulation, functional validation, and debugging workflows.
- Familiarity with microarchitecture and digital design concepts.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Structured problem-solving ability and attention to detail in design and verification.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing or working from microarchitecture specifications.
- Experience collaborating with design verification teams to diagnose and fix RTL failures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 3+ years relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree in the same fields with 1+ years relevant experience; OR a PhD in the same fields (posting lists 3+ months of educational experience). The posting notes these qualifications may be met via a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
