CPU Pre-Si Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Pre-silicon verification engineer on the E-Core CPU team in Guadalajara responsible for validating RTL implementations of new and existing CPU microarchitecture features. Work includes simulation-based and formal verification to ensure correct functionality before silicon.
Collaborate with design engineers, micro-architects, and cross-site teams to develop tests, coverage, and debug issues to closure.
Experience Level
Mid-level - experienced hire. Typical experience expectation is in the 2–4 year range depending on degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop pre-silicon validation test plans and test scenarios to prove design correctness.
- Implement simulation environment components: bus functional models, trackers, checkers, scoreboards, and test benches.
- Write tests and test generators; develop checkers and functional coverage models and work to meet coverage goals.
- Perform and debug digital simulations and drive bugs to closure with root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with designers and micro-architects to refine test plans and verification scope.
- Deliver high-quality outputs on schedule while working effectively in a cross-site team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and constraints:
- Hardware description languages: VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
- Testbench development experience with SystemVerilog UVM/OVM.
- Programming/scripting: one or more of C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python; familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience in test writing/generation, checker development, coverage analysis, failure debug, and root-cause analysis.
- Advanced English communication skills.
- Unrestricted permanent right to work in Mexico.
Preferred / nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of Intel Architecture ISA and system architecture; x86 assembly language experience.
- Experience with industry formal verification tools such as JasperGold, IFV, Questa Formal, or VC Formal.
- In-depth computer architecture knowledge.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 2+ years of relevant experience. Related technical fields are acceptable as stated in the posting.
