Job Title

CPU Post-Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Join the CPU Silicon Bringup team to prepare for and support CPU bring-up and validation across Qualcomm SoCs from first silicon through productization. The role works closely with CPU design, verification, SoC bring-up, and software teams to plan, execute, and debug CPU validation activities on silicon and on pre-silicon platforms.

Experience Level

Level - Mid-Career. The posting indicates experienced engineers (typical experience guidance: around 5+ years overall; at least 3+ years in silicon validation and bring-up).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on planning and executing CPU bring-up and validation, reproducing and debugging silicon failures, and developing tests and debug features to improve future bring-ups.

  • Develop CPU bring-up and validation test plans with design and verification teams.
  • Prepare for bring-up using emulation and FPGA platforms.
  • Coordinate bring-up activities with SoC, firmware, and software teams.
  • Triage and debug failures observed on silicon; reproduce failures on emulators/FPGAs.
  • Develop test content and testing strategies for CPU validation on silicon.
  • Propose and help architect debug features to improve future bring-ups.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or preferred for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: 3+ years experience in silicon validation and bring-up; experience implementing embedded firmware in assembly and C/C++.
  • Must-have: Experience with software toolchains including assemblers, C compilers, Makefiles, and source code control tools.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with emulation and FPGA platforms for pre-silicon preparation and failure reproduction.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong understanding of microprocessor architecture, power management, and physical design concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience debugging functional, power, performance, and speed-path issues on silicon.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in CPU design and verification, test development for CPU features on silicon, and development of test vectors for tester bring-up.

Education Requirements

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is listed in the posting. The role also references experience guidance of 5+ years overall and at least 3+ years in silicon validation/bring-up.
