CPU Physical Implementation Intern
ArmJob Title
CPU Physical Implementation Intern
Role Summary
Join the CPU physical implementation team in Sophia Antipolis to investigate and optimise Area, Frequency and Power for CPU designs. The intern will own a defined investigation topic, work with an assigned mentor, and contribute results to the CPU development workflow.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Intended for students or recent graduates with limited professional experience; no specific years of industry experience required.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities focus on practical investigation and collaboration within the physical implementation team.
- Plan and execute an investigation topic related to CPU physical implementation (area, frequency, power trade-offs).
- Develop experiments, analyse results, and propose optimisation strategies with measurable metrics.
- Work closely with an assigned expert engineer and the wider CPU team to integrate findings into design flows.
- Document methods and results; present conclusions to technical stakeholders.
- Follow team processes including version control and Linux-based toolchains.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes for successful performance in the internship.
- Curiosity about CPUs and digital systems; attention to detail and creativity in problem solving.
- Understanding of computer architecture fundamentals and digital design concepts, including Power/Performance/Area trade-offs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Available for a 5–6 month internship starting in 2027.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with Linux and version control systems.
Education Requirements
Enrolment in higher education is required.
