CPU Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Perform physical-design implementation of CPU designs from RTL to GDSII and deliver manufacturable design databases. Collaborate with logic, circuit, architecture, DFT, and design-automation teams to optimize power, performance, area, and reliability and to improve physical-design methodologies and automation.
On-site role based in Bangalore focused on high-performance, low-power CPU microarchitectures and EDA tool collaboration.
Experience Level
Senior — 10+ years of relevant CPU physical-design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation, verification, signoff, and methodology development for CPU physical design.
- Implement physical design from RTL to GDSII: synthesis, floorplanning, placement, routing, and clock tree synthesis.
- Perform static timing analysis, timing signoff, power analysis, and reliability verification.
- Conduct layout verification, LVS/DRC, and structural/electrical rule checks.
- Collaborate with logic, circuit, architecture, DFT, and design-automation teams to resolve issues and improve microarchitectures.
- Work with EDA vendors to enhance tool capabilities for high-speed, low-power CPU designs.
- Optimize designs for power, frequency, area, and manufacturability; develop flow automation and methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- 10+ years of experience in CPU physical design implementation and signoff.
- Strong expertise with synthesis, placement, CTS, routing, and P&R flows using Synopsys and Cadence tools.
- Proficiency in timing signoff, formal verification, and low-power design techniques.
- Experience with submicron process nodes and layout verification methods (LVS/DRC).
- Skilled in power estimation, power optimization, and power-delivery methodologies.
- Ability to analyze results and recommend microarchitecture and physical-design improvements.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. The posting specifies 10+ years of relevant experience.
