Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
CPU Performance Modelling Architect
Role Summary
Join the Core Performance Architecture Modelling team to develop and validate CPU microarchitecture performance models used for design decisions and pre-silicon analysis. The role focuses on simulator development, workload and trace analysis, model correlation with RTL, and defining performance-related features.
This is a technically focused senior role working with hardware and software engineers to improve CPU performance and modelling methodology.
Experience Level
Senior-level. No explicit years-of-experience stated; the role expects demonstrated experience in comparable technical roles within product-focused, high-performance computing environments.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and applying cycle-accurate performance models and collaborating with design teams.
- Develop and maintain cycle-accurate core microarchitecture performance simulators.
- Perform workload and trace analysis to quantify performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Correlate RTL behaviour with performance models and improve model fidelity.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to define and evaluate architectural features.
- Contribute to pre-silicon performance analysis and verification workflows.
- Drive methodology improvements and support cross-team performance investigations.
Requirements
Core technical skills and domain experience required; listed as must-have and nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Experience in CPU microarchitecture performance modelling and cycle-accurate simulator development.
- Must-have: Proficiency in C++ and familiarity with scripting languages for tooling and analysis.
- Must-have: Practical experience with pre-silicon performance analysis, workload/trace analysis, and RTL-to-performance correlation.
- Must-have: Strong collaboration skills; ability to work with architects, RTL teams, and software engineers.
- Nice-to-have: Knowledge of operating systems, compilers, and application performance characteristics.
- Nice-to-have: Evidence of technical leadership or innovation such as publications or patents.
