CPU Performance Developer Technology Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Compute Developer Technology (Devtech) team to research, design, and implement CPU performance optimizations for NVIDIA Grace/Vera platforms. Work with external developers and internal architecture and software teams to improve performance across AI preprocessing, scientific/HPC, and data-intensive workloads.
Experience Level
Mid-level β the role expects experienced engineers (typically 3β7 years); the posting specifies 5+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver performance improvements across software stacks and influence CPU and toolchain design.
- Collaborate with developers, researchers, and framework maintainers to identify and resolve performance issues in AI, analytics, simulation, and numerical computing workloads.
- Profile and analyze performance from application algorithms to low-level microarchitecture to locate bottlenecks.
- Implement optimizations in applications, libraries, and reference implementations to improve CPU throughput and efficiency.
- Contribute to open-source frameworks and performance libraries to enable broader adoption of optimizations.
- Work with architecture, research, tools, libraries, and system software teams to improve platform performance and developer workflows.
- Provide performance insights that inform next-generation CPU designs and compiler/toolchain improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in performance engineering or CPU optimization.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and/or Python; solid understanding of algorithms and software architecture.
- Deep understanding of CPU microarchitecture, performance analysis tools, and optimization methodologies.
- Proven experience with CPU benchmarking and bottleneck-driven performance tuning.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Nice-to-have: experience optimizing AI or data preprocessing pipelines on CPUs; familiarity with HPC, parallel computing, and distributed runtimes; hands-on SIMD/intrinsics/vectorization; contributions to open-source performance or HPC frameworks.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
