Job Title

CPU Memory Subsystem Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on end-to-end verification of CPU/GPU/SOC memory subsystems, focusing on cache coherence, load-store units, caches, memory controllers, and related interfaces. Collaborate with RTL design teams to develop verification strategy and environments that validate functionality across simulation, emulation, and silicon.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting notes a preference for candidates with 2+ years of processor verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve designing verification infrastructure, generating stimuli, validating coherence and system interactions, and debugging across pre- and post-silicon platforms.

  • Design and implement verification environments usable in simulation and emulation.
  • Develop synthesizable transactors, testbenches, and verification IP for memory subsystem verification.
  • Create unit-level tests and full-chip assembly programs to exercise memory subsystem features.
  • Develop coverage monitors, track coverage goals, and produce test plans.
  • Debug functional failures in pre- and post-silicon environments; perform root-cause analysis and recommend fixes.
  • Design abstract end-to-end checks for CPU–SOC memory interactions and coherence protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with CPU/SOC/GPU RTL teams to derive verification requirements from specifications.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred for success in the role.

  • Must-have: Experience with digital logic design, CPU and SoC microarchitecture, and memory subsystem concepts.
  • Must-have: Strong programming skills in C/C++ and scripting; familiarity with Verilog or similar HDLs.
  • Must-have: Experience developing unit and full-chip level testbenches, test plans, and assertions.
  • Must-have: Ability to debug complex system-level failures and perform design-oriented root-cause analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation/FPGA platforms and developing synthesizable transactors.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with formal verification techniques and verification IP development for distribution.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience optimizing software or verification performance.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.
