CPU Front-end Design Manager

Role Summary

Lead the Memory Execution Unit (MEU) Front-End development team responsible for RTL, Design Verification, and Formal Verification for next-generation Server and Client CPU products. Own end-to-end execution from microarchitecture and RTL implementation through pre-silicon validation and silicon readiness.

Build and grow a high-performing organization, drive execution excellence, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver predictable first-time-right silicon.

Experience Level

Senior - requires extensive industry experience. Typical guidance: Bachelor's degree + 15+ years industry experience or Master's + 12+ years, and 5+ years of engineering management leading senior technical teams.

Responsibilities

The manager is accountable for technical delivery, people leadership, cross-functional coordination, and verification quality for the MEU cluster.

• Own end-to-end delivery of the MEU cluster across RTL, DV, and Formal Verification functions.
• Drive microarchitecture reviews, implementation strategy, verification closure, and quality signoff.
• Ensure features meet Power, Performance, Area (PPA), quality, reliability, and security objectives.
• Define execution strategy, milestones, risk mitigation plans, and resource allocation.
• Drive adoption of advanced methodologies, automation, AI-assisted debug, and formal technologies.
• Lead and grow RTL, DV, and Formal engineers; build leadership bench strength and succession plans.
• Partner with Architecture, Design, Validation, Physical Design, DFT, Power, Security, and Product Engineering teams and manage stakeholders across geographies.
• Establish best practices for RTL, DV, and Formal verification and ensure robust pre-silicon quality metrics and risk-based signoff.

• Must-have: 5+ years of engineering management experience leading senior technical teams.
• Must-have: Strong expertise in CPU microarchitecture, RTL design, verification methodologies, and formal verification.
• Must-have: Proven record delivering complex SoC/CPU products from definition through silicon.
• Must-have: Deep practical knowledge of SystemVerilog, assertions, coverage-driven verification, and formal tools.
• Must-have: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional programs and geographically distributed teams.
• Must-have: Experience with PPA tradeoffs, verification closure, and quality signoff processes.
• Nice-to-have: Experience leading large front-end CPU organizations spanning RTL, DV, and Formal Verification.
• Nice-to-have: Expertise in Out-of-Order CPUs, memory subsystems, cache coherency, or execution units.
• Nice-to-have: Experience driving AI/ML-based validation methodologies and verification automation.
• Nice-to-have: Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Education Requirements
