CPU Design Verification - Sr Engineer
Role Summary
Verify power management and low-power/high-performance CPU subsystems as part of the CPU design verification team in Bangalore. The role focuses on validating boot/reset flows, clock/power gating, DVFS/DCVS and other power-management features across simulation, emulation and silicon.
Collaborate with CPU designers, system architects, software and SoC teams to develop test plans, exercise system use cases, and diagnose failures.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectation: multi-year verification or hardware engineering experience (posting lists ranges of ~2–8 years; many minimums reference 3+ years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute verification for power management features: boot, reset, clock gating, power gating, voltage/frequency management, limit management, throttling and reliability features.
- Develop comprehensive test plans with CPU design and verification teams and validate system-level use cases with software and SoC teams.
- Create stimulus, checkers and assertions; use simulation, emulation and formal methods to run tests.
- Verify power intent and UPF flows.
- Enable verification on emulators and FPGA platforms and support emulation-based runs.
- Debug and triage failures across simulation, emulation and silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience in power management verification of CPUs/SoCs, including clock gating, power gating, UPF and DVFS/DCVS.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and C/C++.
- Experience implementing embedded firmware in assembly and C.
- Familiarity with scripting languages for test automation (e.g. Python, Tcl).
- Experience with emulation, FPGA platforms and silicon debug/triage.
- Strong understanding of CPU architecture, digital logic design and microarchitecture.
- Preferred: experience with formal verification/assertions and DFT/structural debug methods (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan/memory dump).
Education Requirements
Degree preferred: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field (posting also accepts Master's or PhD). Posting lists degree-plus-experience options: Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD; BE/BTech in CS/EE referenced as an acceptable credential.
