CPU Design Sr Staff Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU Design Sr Staff Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer responsible for functional and power-management verification of high-performance, low-power CPUs within the CPU/SoC organization. Works with CPU design, architecture, software, emulation and SoC teams to develop and execute verification strategies and validate system use cases.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting targets experienced candidates (typical expectations ~8+ years); specific ranges vary by degree and role.
Responsibilities
Primary verification responsibilities for CPU power-management and system-level validation.
- Plan and execute verification for power-management features: boot, reset, clock gating, power gating, voltage/frequency management, throttling and limits.
- Develop comprehensive test plans with design and verification teams and validate system use cases with architects and software teams.
- Use simulation and formal methodologies; write checkers, assertions and develop stimulus.
- Verify power intent using standards such as UPF.
- Collaborate with emulation and FPGA teams to enable verification on hardware platforms.
- Debug verification failures, work cross-functionally to close issues and document results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and relevant experience (education details are summarized separately below).
- Proven experience in power-management verification for CPU or CPU-based SoCs (clock gating, power gating, DVFS/DCVS, reliability, throttling).
- Strong RTL verification skills: Verilog/SystemVerilog, assertions, checkers, and testbench development.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and embedded firmware (assembly/C) and scripting for verification automation.
- Experience with emulation/FPGAs for verification bring-up and validation.
- Good understanding of CPU architecture, microarchitecture, digital logic design, and debug/DFT concepts.
- Preferred: experience with formal methods, advanced assertions, JTAG/IEEE1500/MBIST and structural debug methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, BE/BTech, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related engineering field are listed in the posting. The job specifies experience ranges tied to degree (example: Bachelor's +6 years, Master's +5 years, PhD +4 years) and also lists senior hires with higher experience (e.g., 12+ years). The posting also accepts related work experience in lieu of a degree per the stated experience ranges.
