CPU Design Sr Staff Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Verify power-management and related features for high-performance, low-power CPU cores and CPU-based SoCs. Work within the CPU verification team and collaborate with design, system architects, software, SoC, and emulation teams to validate power, clock, reset and voltage/frequency management across simulation, emulation and silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. Typical experience expectation is 4+ years; reduced experience expectations apply with advanced degrees (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, executing and debugging verification of CPU power-management features and enabling system-level validation.
- Develop comprehensive power-management test plans and verification strategies.
- Implement and run simulation- and formal-based tests; write checkers and assertions; develop stimulus.
- Verify power intent using UPF and validate clock gating, power gating, DVFS/DCVS, throttling and other power-management mechanisms.
- Collaborate with architects, SoC, software and firmware teams to validate system use cases and interfaces.
- Enable and run verification on emulation and FPGA platforms; work with emulation teams to bring up tests.
- Debug and triage failures across simulation, emulation and silicon; support root-cause analysis and fixes.

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
Must-have:
- Proven experience in power-management verification for CPUs or CPU-based SoCs (clock gating, power gating, UPF, DVFS/DCVS, throttling, reliability features).
- Hands-on experience with simulation and formal verification flows; writing assertions and checkers.
- Programming and firmware skills: C, C++, assembly or embedded C firmware; scripting for automation.
- RTL experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog and verification methodologies.
- Experience debugging across simulation, emulation and silicon; familiarity with emulation/FPGA bring-up.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and microprocessor debug features.
- Experience with advanced verification techniques and formal methods.
- Experience with DFT and structural debug concepts and tools (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan/memory dump).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (BE/BTech) in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field (typical expectation 4+ years experience). Master's degree in a related field (typical expectation 3+ years) or PhD in a related field (typical expectation 2+ years). Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where stated.
