CPU Design Sr Lead Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
CPU Design Sr Lead Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer responsible for validating power management and related features of high-performance, low-power CPU cores and CPU-based SoCs. The role works within the CPU verification team in Bangalore and coordinates with design, architecture, software and system teams.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectations on this posting: ~4+ years (Bachelor's), ~3+ years (Master's), or ~2+ years (PhD) in hardware engineering or related verification roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on planning and executing verification for power management features and system use cases.
- Develop comprehensive test plans for power management (boot, reset, clock gating, power gating, voltage/frequency management, limit management, throttling).
- Implement and run simulation and formal verification flows; write checkers, assertions, and stimulus.
- Verify power intent using UPF and related methodologies.
- Collaborate with system architects, software, SoC, emulation, and FPGA teams to validate system-level use cases.
- Enable verification on emulators and FPGA platforms and debug/triage failures in simulation, emulation, and silicon.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Practical experience in power management verification for CPUs or CPU-based SoCs (clock gating, power gating, DVFS/DCVS, throttling, reliability features).
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages; experience with embedded firmware (assembly and C).
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog for verification tasks.
- Experience using emulation and FPGA platforms for verification and capability to debug across simulation, emulation, and silicon.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Strong understanding of CPU architectures and microarchitectures.
- In-depth digital logic design and microprocessor debug/DFT knowledge.
- Experience with formal methods and assertion-based verification.
- Familiarity with DFT and structural debug methodologies (JTAG, IEEE1500, MBIST, scan dump, memory dump).
Education Requirements
Accepts Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, BE/BTech in CS/EE, or related technical fields. The posting specifies experience guidance by degree: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years of relevant hardware engineering or related work experience.
