QualcommJob Title
CPU Architect 6 Security and MMU Aspects
Role Summary
Define and develop CPU architecture and microarchitecture focused on security, memory management unit (MMU), address translation, and virtualization. Work with design, verification, firmware, and software teams to produce secure, high-quality CPU features that meet functional, performance, power, and area targets.
Experience Level
Senior role. Experience guidance in the posting: bachelor's degree +2 years, master's degree +1 year, or PhD. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include architecture definition, specification, and cross-team integration.
- Contribute to CPU architecture and microarchitecture for security, MMU, address translation, TLBs, page-table walks, virtualization, and memory protection.
- Define and review security, isolation, and protection mechanisms in CPU and system interfaces.
- Translate architectural intent into hardware definitions, technical specifications, and RTL implementation in collaboration with design and verification teams.
- Collaborate with firmware/software and system teams to integrate features across the stack.
- Perform trade-off analysis to meet functional, performance, power, and area goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Experience with hardware design, microarchitecture, or architecture-related development flows.
- Familiarity with processor systems, memory subsystems, caches, and interconnect architectures.
- Experience with RTL implementation and achieving performance/power/area closure.
- Experience with architecture documentation, technical reviews, and requirement definition.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Experienced hardware designers with relevant background are encouraged to apply.
- Nice-to-have: experience with CPU/MMU/LSU/cache architecture, security-oriented memory protection, virtualization and isolation, TLBs and page-table walks, confidential computing, trusted execution, and mitigation techniques for control-flow and side-channel risks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Masters, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. The posting states: bachelors +2 years of relevant experience, masters +1 year, or PhD; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
