Computational Geometry Intern (Strategic Student Program)
SiemensJob Title
Computational Geometry Intern (Strategic Student Program)
Role Summary
6-month internship within Siemens Software's Strategic Student Program, based in Grenoble. The intern will research and prototype topology-constrained biasing methods for closed parametric curves used in Mask Proximity Correction (MPC), and evaluate trade-offs between geometric accuracy and data volume.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship (student); suitable for candidates in advanced undergraduate or graduate programs. No prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
The internship is organized into three phases: research, prototype development, and evaluation. The intern will perform technical research, implement and test algorithms, and document results.
- Review literature and state-of-the-art approaches for curve biasing and related geometric processing.
- Design and implement prototype biasing approaches for closed parametric curves.
- Select or create test datasets and define relevant quality and performance metrics.
- Evaluate and compare prototypes; analyze advantages, limitations, and trade-offs.
- Produce a final technical report summarizing methods, experiments, and conclusions.
Requirements
Core skills and attributes required for the role.
- Strong software development skills (e.g., Python) and ability to implement and experiment with algorithms.
- Interest and some exposure to computational geometry or geometric processing.
- Strong experimental and analytical mindset; able to design rigorous tests and compare solutions.
- Fluent in French and English for effective team collaboration.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with mentors and team members.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing higher education (BAC+5) in France - engineering or master's level - in Computational Geometry, Algorithmics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
