Compiler Verification Engineer, Compute Performance – GPU
NVIDIAJob Title
Compiler Verification Engineer, Compute Performance – GPU
Role Summary
Join the Compiler Verification Team to validate and protect compiler performance and correctness for NVIDIA GPUs. The role focuses on detecting and diagnosing performance regressions and functional defects, automating compiler tests, maintaining baselines, and driving issues to resolution with compiler developers.
Experience Level
Entry-level (approximately 2+ years of professional experience in software development or test engineering).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include investigating regressions, automating compiler tests, operating test suites, and improving verification processes.
- Analyze performance degradations and functional defects in compilers; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Automate compiler testing using internal test frameworks; implement test execution, reporting, and build/test environment automation.
- Run and maintain test suites to find, report, and track compiler performance changes; work with development teams to resolve regressions.
- Generate performance statistics, identify outliers, monitor trends, and maintain historical baselines for comparison.
- Develop and review test plans and test cases; integrate tests into test management frameworks and port/author test reports.
- Participate in process and quality improvement initiatives; propose and implement changes to testing and verification workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, plus optional qualifications that strengthen a candidate's fit.
- Must-have: 2+ years' experience in a software development or test organization; strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Must-have: Deep understanding of SDLC, high-performance computing (HPC), and software testing methodologies.
- Must-have: Compiler domain knowledge - understanding compiler implementation and behavior.
- Must-have: Experience creating test plans, developing tests, automating test execution, and reporting results in a production environment.
- Must-have: Programming experience in C/C++/CUDA and scripting (Python, Perl, Shell).
- Nice-to-have: Production software testing experience for compilers or system software; prior compiler development or verification/performance analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with NVIDIA CUDA Toolkit and debugging on Linux.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Git or Perforce, JIRA, Confluence, Make, and statistical analysis tools for isolating out-of-bound behavior.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree, or equivalent practical experience. The posting does not specify fields of study or certifications.
