Role Summary

The Communications Engineer position at MITRE involves working within the Survivable Communications Systems team, focusing on RF design, hardware security, firmware development, embedded software, and digital signal processing. Responsibilities

The Communications Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and analyzing innovative waveform components for communication systems.
  • Documenting recommendations for system improvements in various areas such as resilience and networking.
  • Designing and verifying FPGA implementation of signal processing modules.
  • Utilizing software-defined radios for protocol implementation and signal analysis.
  • Investigating quantization strategies for digital receivers.
  • Developing code for custom hardware and ensuring system requirements are met through evaluation.

Requirements

The position requires the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, Matlab, or other modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of communication systems components and techniques.
  • Skill in data analysis and field/lab testing equipment.
  • Ability to secure a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • On-site work required 5 days a week.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for security clearance eligibility.

Education Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
