Job Title

Circuit Analysis and Modeling Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

The Circuit Analysis and Modeling Engineer will develop, verify, and release functional, behavioral, and performance models for custom memory IP used in Qualcomm CPU products. The role collaborates across circuit design, architecture, verification, DFT, and CAD teams to improve memory verification, analysis, and automation.

Technical ownership includes model development, characterization, timing and power analysis, and developing automation and release flows to support CPU memory solutions.

Experience Level

Senior. Education/experience guidance provided in Education Requirements; typical combinations listed by the employer include Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include model development, verification support, analysis, and automation:

  • Develop and maintain functional, behavioral, and performance models for custom memory IP.
  • Create DFT models for memories and define memory test architectures with DFT engineers.
  • Partner with verification teams to produce verification strategies and ensure coverage in SoC environments.
  • Perform characterization, timing, power, and performance analysis for critical memory blocks.
  • Define and maintain verification methodologies, quality metrics, and release criteria for memory models.
  • Work with CAD teams to develop and enhance automation for model generation, validation, release, and analysis flows.
  • Collaborate with circuit designers to optimize memories for performance, power, area, yield, and testability.
  • Drive continuous improvements in modeling quality, automation, and development efficiency across the memory organization.

Requirements

Concise list of required technical skills and experience. Education-specific requirements are summarized under Education Requirements below.

  • Experience developing functional and behavioral models for custom IP and memory macros.
  • Expertise in one or more of: SRAM circuit design, functional verification, static timing analysis, or computer architecture.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation (Python, Perl, Tcl, shell, or similar).
  • Experience with industry-standard custom design, verification, and analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, UVM, and assertion-based verification.
  • Knowledge of memory redundancy, repair algorithms, and memory test methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DFT tools and concepts (e.g., Tessent, Tetramax, Synopsys SMS).
  • Experience developing automation frameworks, release flows, or modeling infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with low-power design, timing closure, and memory characterization methodologies.

Education Requirements

Employer states degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (typically with 2+ years relevant experience); or Master's degree in those fields (typically with 1+ year relevant experience); or PhD in a related field. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees.
