Job Title
Chip Architect
Role Summary
Define and deliver system-on-chip (SoC) architectures for next-generation products. Translate product requirements into robust chip-level designs that balance performance, power, area and cost, and lead cross-disciplinary teams through specification, implementation, tape-out and production.
Work with product managers, software architects, test and analog teams, suppliers and manufacturing to ensure alignment of interfaces, schedules and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior. Years of experience not specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture definition, system-level optimization and technical leadership across the SoC development lifecycle.
- Define overall IC/SoC architecture including digital, analog and mixed-signal partitioning and test strategy (in collaboration with analog architects).
- Translate high-level product specifications into detailed technical requirements for design teams.
- Optimize system-level trade-offs among performance, power, area and cost to meet product goals.
- Lead and mentor design engineers and sub-system architects through development and implementation.
- Coordinate cross-functional work with product management, software teams, test engineering and customers.
- Define technical interfaces and align designs with external suppliers and partners.
- Support project governance, scheduling and communication across local and remote teams.
- Drive end-to-end chip delivery from concept and specification through tape-out, qualification and production.
Requirements
Concise list of expected skills and qualifications. Must-have items first, followed by optional/desired skills.
-
Must-have: Proven experience as an IC/SoC architect or equivalent role with ownership of architecture definition and chip delivery.
-
Must-have: Strong knowledge of digital and mixed-signal IC design, system partitioning, and SoC integration.
-
Must-have: Experience balancing performance, power, area and cost, and familiarity with tape-out and silicon bring-up processes.
-
Must-have: Technical leadership and mentoring experience; ability to communicate requirements to design teams and align cross-functional stakeholders.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience working with external suppliers and partners, and defining hardware/software interfaces and test strategies.
