Job Title

Chassis IP Senior Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver interconnect and chassis IP for SoCs, including high-performance data and control plane components, protocol conversion bridges, and supporting infrastructure. The role is on the Intel Chassis team and focuses on RTL design, architecture, and integration support for subsystem and SoC customers.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 10 years of experience in logic design and RTL development (as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include RTL design, architecture definition, optimization, and customer support for IP integration.

  • Develop RTL designs and write Verilog/SystemVerilog for functional units, IP blocks, and subsystems.
  • Define and implement architecture and microarchitecture for interconnect IP: routers, switches, arbiters, protocol bridges, debug/trace, and clock/power controls.
  • Run simulations and verification to validate functionality and integration with subsystems/SoCs.
  • Perform quality checks and optimize RTL for power, performance, area, and timing.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across area, bandwidth, timing, and reliability to meet design goals.
  • Support customers with IP integration, verification workflows, and issue resolution.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Expert in Verilog/SystemVerilog and RTL coding practices.
  • Strong knowledge of AMBA protocols (CHI, AXI, AHB, APB) and PCIe/CXL.
  • Experience with Lint, CDC, and RDC tools and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to optimize designs for power, performance, timing, and area.
  • Experience with RTL simulation and verification flows.
  • Ability to evaluate architecture trade-offs and deliver high-quality IP.
  • Nice-to-have: experience designing routers, switches, arbiters, protocol conversion bridges, debug/trace networks, flow control, hashing, DVFS, UPF, RAS features, coherency and memory subsystems.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with leading-edge semiconductor nodes and working with distributed, multi–time-zone teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (as stated). No other degree or certification requirements were specified in the posting.
