Chassis IP Design Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
Chassis IP Design Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and optimize RTL logic for high-performance IP blocks used in SoC designs. Work with architecture, verification, physical design, and SoC integration teams to deliver production-quality IP that meets power, performance, area, and timing (PPA/T) requirements.
Experience Level
Mid-level. See Education Requirements for the role's explicit experience and degree guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementing, verifying, and delivering IP logic suitable for SoC integration.
- Write and maintain RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for IP blocks and subsystems.
- Perform simulation and debug to ensure functional correctness and quality.
- Optimize designs for power, performance, area, and timing trade-offs.
- Collaborate with architects to define microarchitecture and with verification teams on test plans and fixes.
- Support SoC integration and handoff activities to ensure successful integration and verification.
- Work with physical design teams to address timing and implementation issues.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards for IP-SoC handoff.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.
- Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog; experience with lint, CDC, and RDC tools and flows.
- Practical RTL development, simulation, and debug experience for IP or SoC components.
- Proven ability to optimize logic for PPA considerations and resolve timing challenges.
- Experience collaborating with verification, architecture, and SoC integration teams.
- Familiarity with timing closure and interaction with physical design teams.
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (CHI, AXI, AHB, APB) and PCIe/CXL.
- Experience designing protocol bridges, debug/trace components, or other IP subsystems.
- Understanding of QoS, access control, flow control, RAS, security, and error-handling concepts.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools to support logic design and working with distributed global teams.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant SoC/IP design experience; OR Master's degree in a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
