Characterization Product Development Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Characterization Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Operations Product Development Engineering GPU team to productize NVIDIA GPUs for consumer, professional and datacenter markets. The role focuses on implementing chip-probing test processes, diagnosing yield and test failures, and driving cross-functional technical solutions from silicon bring-up to production.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 2+ years of product development engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary accountabilities include characterization, test process development, and cross-functional problem resolution to improve yield and test efficiency.
- Implement and optimize chip-probing (CP) and ATE test processes for leading-edge GPUs.
- Identify and resolve yield bottlenecks, wafer/package failures, and test failures on Automatic Test Equipment.
- Design and execute DOE (design of experiments) for complex characterization problems.
- Analyze statistical and test data to drive data-driven decisions and corrective actions.
- Lead cross-functional investigations with design, foundry, DFT, test, planning and quality teams to root-cause issues.
- Influence ASIC design for improved test coverage, yield, and silicon bring-up.
- Work independently to define problems, propose solutions, and drive closure with minimal supervision.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behavioral expectations; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: 2+ years of product development engineering or relevant experience.
- Must-have: Experience with digital design, circuit analysis, characterization and qualification.
- Must-have: Familiarity with ATE test flows, DFT concepts, and device physics.
- Must-have: Proficiency in statistical data analysis (JMP or similar) and strong problem-solving skills.
- Must-have: Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with Advantest 93K testers (SMT7/SMT8), logic or SRAM voltage/frequency characterization, scripting (Python/Perl), and prior DFT/ATE test implementation experience.
- Nice-to-have: Demonstrated examples of creative solutions to silicon or package problems.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
