Characterization Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for designing and executing electrical and RF test plans for mobile cellular products and for analyzing test results to validate product performance. Works within an engineering team to define test requirements, evaluate test hardware/software, and communicate results to product design teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0β3 years). Minimum documented experience: approximately 6 months of related experience or an internship; alternate academic credit may be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include test planning, measurement, data analysis, and reporting for RF devices and subsystems.
- Create and execute RF test plans for mobile cellular products.
- Operate and apply RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator) to measure device performance.
- Analyze RF/electrical test data and generate performance reports for product design teams.
- Develop scripts and algorithms to control test equipment and process measurement data.
- Evaluate and specify test hardware and software needs for new product development.
- Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to review results and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Familiarity with RF test equipment operation (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator).
- Knowledge of RF devices (amplifiers, filters, couplers) and corresponding measurements (e.g., S-parameters, noise figure).
- Understanding of analog and digital electronics.
- Ability to analyze and interpret RF test data and present findings to technical audiences.
- Experience with LabView or similar software for instrument control and data acquisition.
- Minimum practical experience: ~6 months of relevant experience, or an internship, or demonstrable coursework (6 credit hours) reflecting relevant knowledge.
- Hybrid work expectation: typically 3 days in the office and up to 2 days remote.
- Not eligible for company visa sponsorship.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required. The posting also allows equivalent early-career pathways (internship, ~6 months relevant experience, or 6 credit hours of relevant coursework) to demonstrate required knowledge.
