Camera Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Camera Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Multimedia Camera HW team to design image and video processing IP for ASICs. Responsible for micro-architecting hardware, delivering RTL IP, collaborating with architects, verification, synthesis and physical design teams, and driving quality-of-results across performance, area, and power.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Ideal candidate has 3+ years of industry ASIC/RTL experience; see Education Requirements for degree-and-experience combinations.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities include:
- Micro-architect and design hardware for multimedia and camera image-processing blocks.
- Develop RTL (Verilog/VHDL) and own delivery of core-level IP.
- Run synthesis and analyze results to meet timing, area, and power targets.
- Perform design-rule checks, low-power checks, and cross-clock-domain (CDC) checks.
- Collaborate with verification engineers to develop test plans and bus-functional models.
- Implement and debug module- and core-level tests throughout the development cycle.
- Create and maintain design documents and coordinate with physical design teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- RTL design experience in Verilog or VHDL.
- Design verification experience and familiarity with bus protocols such as AHB and AXI.
- Experience in image, video, graphics, multimedia processing, or DSP.
- Hands-on use of RTL sanity tools: design-rule checking, CDC checks, synthesis, timing analysis, and low-power verification.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs among performance, area, power, and system cost.
- Good communication, planning, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- SystemVerilog or SystemC experience.
- ASIC implementation experience for image-processing/camera IP.
- Scripting skills (TCL, Perl, Python, shell).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where stated.
