Camera and Depth Electrical Engineer
Meta PlatformsJob Title
Camera and Depth Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Reality Labs Devices working on camera, depth, and sensor electrical design, covering ASIC, module, and system integration for Mixed Reality, wearables, AI devices, and robotics.
Deliver electrical architectures and implementations from concept through prototyping, validation, and mass production while collaborating with optics, mechanical, firmware, and systems teams.
Experience Level
Senior - 8+ years of experience in consumer electronics hardware development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include electrical design, integration, validation, and cross‑functional leadership for camera and depth sensor systems.
- Implement and debug mixed‑signal ASICs, board‑level circuitry, high‑speed signal integrity, and complete electrical subsystems.
- Develop solutions for MR, wearable, AI device, and robotics electronics with attention to power, performance, and form factor tradeoffs.
- Drive designs from concept to prototype, validation, and mass production; produce design documentation and test plans.
- Use industry tools for design, simulation, and verification (e.g., Cadence, SPICE, Altium, MATLAB) to validate electrical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership for ASIC customization and architecture decisions for camera and depth applications.
- Lead debugging and failure analysis; perform laboratory validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frame grabbers, impedance analyzers, and related equipment.
- Assess and manage vendor relationships and outsourced PCB/module development.
- Collaborate with optics, mechanical, firmware, image sensor, and system electrical engineering teams to integrate modules into products.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 8+ years of consumer electronics hardware development across product life cycles.
- Experience with low‑power analog circuit design, DC/DC converters, power management, and A/D / D/A conversion for image sensors.
- Design of electrical subsystems: power regulators, high‑speed digital signal integrity (MIPI CPHY/DPHY), SoC and microcontroller interfaces.
- Familiarity with serial communication protocols (I2C, I3C, SPI, LVDS).
- Schematic capture and PCB layout experience (Cadence OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent).
- Developing detailed test plans and performing electrical hardware validation and lab debugging.
- Experience using Matlab/Python for data analysis and running firmware commands on prototype platforms.
- Proven ability to work cross‑functionally and manage vendor/contract manufacturer interactions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience validating/verifying custom ASIC function blocks and camera/depth sensor chip architectures.
- Experience with laser drivers, auto‑focus electrical design, or end‑to‑end camera module electrical subsystem development to mass production.
- Experience in high‑volume consumer electronics and partnering with FATP/JDM/ODM/CM/MI partners.
- Familiarity with responsible, ethical AI practices and integrating AI tools to improve workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience is required. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
