CAD/EDA Tools Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Design, develop, test, and maintain software tools, automation flows, and workflows used in design automation for hardware, process design, and manufacturing. Work on scalable, robust automation solutions that improve engineering productivity across cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level. The posting requires approximately 6+ months of relevant experience working with scripting/programming, Linux, version control, and EDA tools.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering automation solutions and supporting toolchains used by design and manufacturing teams.
- Gather and document user stories and technical requirements.
- Design, write, and maintain functional and test code for automation tools.
- Automate build, deployment, and CI/CD pipelines for tools and workflows.
- Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of software tools.
- Develop and maintain scalable workflows and design automation solutions.
- Support cross-functional teams in deploying and using CAD/EDA workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where applicable.
- Minimum ~6 months practical experience with programming or scripting (Python, Tcl, or C++).
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with version control systems.
- Hands-on experience with EDA tools (general use and scripting); domain-specific tools listed under preferred qualifications.
- Experience with writing tests and performing integration and end-to-end validation for tools and flows.
- Preferred: experience implementing solutions using large language models.
- Preferred (12+ months): experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys ICV, Siemens Calibre, distributed job management systems, process automation workflows, and CAD software administration.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field (degree must be completed by start date). Preferred: Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal education where applicable.
