Job Title

Build System Lead - CPU Cores

Role Summary

Lead the transition from legacy build systems to a modern, hyperscale build infrastructure for CPU core development. Own design, implementation, and optimization of scalable build orchestration to reduce model build turnaround time and improve engineering productivity.

Partner with silicon design, CAD, infrastructure, and software teams to define long-term build and automation strategies. This is an onsite role in Fishkill, NY. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. (Title indicates senior responsibility; no explicit years-of-experience listed.)

Responsibilities

Drive build infrastructure strategy, implementation, and operational improvements across CPU core development programs.

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable build infrastructure to reduce build turnaround times.
  • Lead modernization initiatives to replace legacy systems and support Zen architecture and future CPU programs.
  • Improve compute resource utilization and LSF farm efficiency via build caching, artifact reuse, and eliminating redundant builds.
  • Architect and implement hyperscale build orchestration for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for migration to next-generation build architectures.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL/design teams, CAD, and software/infrastructure groups to execute build and automation roadmaps.
  • Establish best practices, standards, and documentation for build infrastructure, CI, and large-scale engineering workflows.
  • Provide training, project definition, and documentation to support adoption of new build processes.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Deep expertise in build systems and build orchestration for large-scale software or silicon development environments.
  • Must-have: Strong experience designing and operating distributed or hyperscale build infrastructure and improving build performance at scale.
  • Must-have: Experience with compute farm scheduling technologies (example: LSF) and workload management platforms.
  • Must-have: Experience driving automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure scalability in high-performance engineering environments.
  • Must-have: Strong collaboration and communication skills with experience influencing cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog and functional verification of microprocessor designs.
  • Nice-to-have: Programming/scripting experience (Perl, C/C++ or similar) and familiarity with EDA environments or semiconductor design workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Proven success leading complex infrastructure transformation initiatives across multiple engineering organizations.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field preferred; some industry experience desired.
