Job Title

Board Level Power Delivery Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's India Customer Engineering team to support Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) in designing and debugging board-level power delivery for Intel Core and Atom processor-based platforms. The role focuses on power-delivery design, PDN analysis, board bring-up, and customer-facing debug support.

Experience Level

Senior - 7 to 12 years of industry experience, with significant experience designing and debugging hardware boards focused on power delivery for Intel Core/Atom platforms.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership in board-level power delivery design, validation, and on-site customer support.

  • Design and validate multi-rail power delivery networks (buck, boost, multi-phase) for high-current, low-voltage processor rails.
  • Perform PDN analysis and power integrity simulations; iterate designs to meet processor power guidelines (IMVP) and PI targets.
  • Create and review schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts (8–16 layers) with attention to power delivery and layout rules.
  • Lead board power-on, lab bring-up, and systematic debug using lab instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, electronic load, etc.).
  • Analyze failures, triage root causes, and propose corrective design or process actions.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers; translate complex technical issues for diverse audiences during site visits.
  • Support manufacturing readiness by applying DFM/DFT practices and working with assembly/test teams.
  • Travel to customer sites across India (regular travel, up to 40–50%) for design reviews, debug sessions, and training.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools for immediate contribution. Education specifics are listed in the Education Requirements section below.

  • Proven hands-on experience designing and debugging board-level power delivery for processor platforms (preferably Intel Core/Atom).
  • Deep understanding of power delivery requirements, IMVP guidelines, and PDN behavior.
  • Experience with control-loop design for voltage regulators and high-current power systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and design review tools (Cadence OrCAD, Mentor Graphics xPedition, Altium Designer, or equivalent).
  • Experience with power integrity and PDN simulation tools (Cadence Sigrity, Siemens HyperLynx, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with board manufacturing constraints, DFM/DFT, and assembly processes.
  • Strong debugging skills during board bring-up and the ability to use lab equipment effectively.
  • Good communication skills for customer interactions and technical documentation.
  • Nice-to-have: platform/chipset familiarity, EMI/EMC knowledge, JEDEC and USB Power Delivery standards, prior customer-facing experience, and experience producing technical application notes or training materials.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
