Battery Gauges Applications Engineer

Role Summary

The Applications Engineer provides technical support to sales and customers to integrate TI battery gauge devices into products. The role delivers collateral, tools, and software to accelerate customer development and secure design wins.

Responsibilities include pre- and post-sales customer support, algorithm-level tuning of battery gauges, data analysis, and bench-level debug and failure analysis support.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” requires approximately 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include customer support, technical enablement, and product configuration/validation.

  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support via WebEx, email, occasional onsite visits, JIRA, and forums.
  • Partner with Systems and Marketing teams to produce collateral, documentation, tools, and software for customers.
  • Analyze and optimize battery gauge configuration and algorithm parameters using large customer and TI dataset analysis.
  • Read and analyze large C code bases related to battery gauge firmware to identify issues and improvements.
  • Recreate customer issues on the bench, perform probe and debug in FA lab, and develop test-improvement plans.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive results.

Requirements

  • Must-have: ~2 years of relevant applications or engineering experience.
  • Must-have: Ability to understand complex firmware written in C for resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Must-have: Strong hardware and software debugging skills and the ability to reproduce and analyze issues on bench and in FA lab.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with Python and C for data analysis and tooling.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience supporting mixed-signal products and battery management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, time management, initiative, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE, or a related technical field is required (Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree).
