Job Title

Automotive and Robotics SoC Architect

Role Summary

Senior technical role responsible for defining scalable, top-down system architectures that unify Tenstorrent's CPU and AI technologies for next-generation automotive and robotics applications. The role focuses on performance, safety, reliability, and security for automotive-grade SoCs and requires technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

This position is remote and based in North America; candidates will work across architecture, software, verification, and product teams to deliver production-quality automotive solutions.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting states a senior role; candidates may be assessed across levels during the interview process.

Responsibilities

The architect will set system-level direction and drive cross-team execution for automotive/robotics SoC projects.

  • Define scalable, top-down SoC architectures that integrate CPU and AI subsystems for automotive and robotics use cases.
  • Set architectural direction to meet performance, safety (functional safety), reliability, and security goals.
  • Collaborate with architecture, RTL, verification, software, DV, product, and external partners to translate requirements into implementable designs.
  • Lead hardware/software co-design and co-verification strategies across the stack.
  • Drive integration and system-level verification for safety-critical environments.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Represent the company with customers and partners for architecture reviews and technical alignment; travel up to ~25% internationally.

Requirements

Required technical skills and clearances for performing the role.

  • Extensive practical experience designing complex SoCs; automotive SoC experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with hardware description languages (Verilog or VHDL).
  • Experience in hardware/software co-design and co-verification at system level.
  • Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards and processes (e.g., ISO 26262) and security principles.
  • Strong systems thinking, architectural trade-off analysis, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive architecture to execution.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to ~25%.
  • Must be eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology; offers may be contingent on citizenship, permanent residency, or ability to obtain required licenses.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with cameras and sensors, familiarity with CPU/AI architecture integration (e.g., RISC-V), or prior automotive integrations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (the posting lists these degree levels explicitly).
