Job Title

ATE Test Hardware Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver automated test equipment (ATE) hardware for networking switch ASICs, focusing on final test and probe. The role is on the Global Operations team supporting Core Switching Group R&D and production.

Workscope includes PCB and mechanical hardware development, ATE bring-up and debug, and cross-functional coordination with board, socket, probe, and thermal vendors.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires multi-year experience; posting specifies Bachelor's + 8 years or Master's + 6 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development, validation, and management of ATE test hardware for high-speed, high-power networking switches.

  • Drive hardware development for final test and probe; coordinate with PCB designers and vendors (socket, probe, board suppliers).
  • Debug and bring up test hardware on ATE systems.
  • Develop ATE diagnostics and DIB programs for high-power, high-speed SERDES devices.
  • Design and review SERDES layout for multi-lane 200G/400G on PCB and advanced substrates.
  • Perform signal integrity and power integrity simulation and analysis.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with design engineers, test teams, and external vendors.
  • Manage tracking and delivery of hardware for R&D and production programs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and hands-on experience required for this role.

  • Hands-on experience with Teradyne UltraFlex tester platforms.
  • In-depth PCB design experience for very high power and high-speed SERDES; familiarity with Cadence and Mentor Graphics EDA tools.
  • Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot failures on test hardware and understand chip behavior on ATE.
  • Experience with extreme-temperature ASIC testing on ATE.
  • Practical knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity analysis and simulation.
  • Programming experience for test diagnostics development (preferred, not strictly required).
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary hardware and test teams and external vendors.
  • Experience with AI-assisted scripting for rapid test development is a plus.
