Job Title

ATE Test Engineer – Optical Transceiver Silicon

Role Summary

Develop and own production ATE test programs for mixed-signal and high-speed ICs used in optical transceivers and co-packaged optics. Work with design, validation, and OSAT partners to take test content from bench bring-up through production release and sustainment.

Position is based in Singapore and involves regular hands-on lab work, coordination with regional test vendors, and cross-site collaboration with teams in the US, India, and Singapore.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically 3–5 years developing production test for mixed-signal or high-speed ICs. Candidates should have taken at least one test program to production release.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing, validating, releasing, and supporting ATE test programs and test hardware across wafer sort and final test.

  • Own test program development for assigned devices/blocks, build test lists from coverage plans, and manage wafer sort and final test insertions.
  • Develop, debug, and optimize ATE programs for analog/DC, high-speed paths, digital scan, and firmware-driven test modes.
  • Support test hardware bring-up: review load boards and probe card designs, debug hardware issues, and manage vendor first-article interactions.
  • Participate in first-silicon bring-up, correlate ATE results to bench characterization, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Serve as the technical contact for programs at OSATs: release management, cross-tester/site correlation, test-time optimization, and production support.
  • Analyze sort and final-test data to identify yield limiters and marginal tests; drive fixes and support failure analysis.
  • Build reusable test IP, scripts, and data tooling to improve team efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience necessary to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have
  • 3–5 years developing production test for mixed-signal or high-speed ICs, including at least one program taken to production release.
  • Hands-on ATE experience on major platforms (e.g., Advantest 93K/T2000, Teradyne UltraFLEX/J750, Eagle, Chroma, or comparable).
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python on Linux; write readable, maintainable test code.
  • Solid analog and mixed-signal fundamentals: read schematics, interpret datasheets, and design measurements.
  • Practical test-hardware skills: load board/probe card debug, bench instrumentation (scopes, BERTs, SMUs, VNAs), and lab troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of optical transceivers, optical power/link budgets, and high-speed serial protocols (Ethernet, PAM4).
  • Statistical fluency for yield and correlation (JMP, MATLAB, Python/pandas, or equivalent).
  • Experience interacting with OSATs or subcontract test operations and working with external partners.
  • Willingness to travel regionally to test sites and overlap with US/India hours as needed.
Nice-to-have
  • Silicon photonics or opto-electrical test experience (coupled-fiber test, optical power/wavelength measurement, TIA/driver characterization).
  • High-speed SerDes test experience: BER, jitter decomposition, eye margining, loopback methods.
  • DFT familiarity: scan, MBIST, JTAG/IEEE 1149, on-chip instrumentation and monitors.
  • Experience with STDF and test-data pipelines; building analytics for engineers.
  • Experience supporting a product through its first production ramp.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
