Job Title

ATE Test Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Failure Analysis (FA) team as a Test Engineer focused on automated test equipment (ATE) for diagnostics and root-cause isolation of advanced silicon. You will co-develop tester software, convert simulation outputs into test patterns, and design FA test hardware while working closely with FA, design, and test-floor teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of relevant hands-on ATE and failure-analysis experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include developing test flows, enabling diagnostics on ATE platforms, and building FA test hardware and software.

  • Port and develop test vectors, patterns, and automation on Advantest V93000 (PS5000) and Teradyne UltraFLEXplus platforms.
  • Convert simulation outputs (VCD, EVCD, STIL) into functional, scan, and structural test patterns to reproduce IC failures on testers.
  • Translate FA procedures (e.g., ATE-assisted EMMI or OBIRCH) into reproducible electrical test flows in partnership with FA and design teams.
  • Optimize tester hardware bandwidth, signal integrity, and diagnostic software flows to reduce time-to-root-cause.
  • Design, prototype, and validate custom test hardware such as load boards, probe cards, and DUT interfaces for FA setups.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: 5+ years hands-on experience with Advantest V93000 (PS5000) in SmarTEST 8 environment and Teradyne UltraFLEXplus with IG-XL.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, C++, or Perl) and experience with digital vector processing and debug.
  • Experience converting design simulation data into test patterns and reproducing IC failures on ATE.
  • Familiarity with IC failure analysis flows, fault localization, electrical diagnostic methods, and yield analysis.
  • Experience designing and validating custom test hardware and addressing signal integrity and bandwidth constraints.
  • Nice-to-have: Practical experience with ATE-assisted EMMI or OBIRCH and prior collaboration embedded with FA or product TE teams.

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
